Green Peas Curry in a clay pot with NO Cashews

Green Peas are healthy, versatile and taste great.  Since they contain vitamin K, manganese, vitamin C, fiber, thiamin, vitamin A, and folate, green peas offer a remarkable nutrition benefit. They are also said to be great for your skin. A fistful of green peas daily is said to keep wrinkles and fine lines away. 

As Sri Lankans, we used to cook green peas with cashews and it’s just the 2nd main ingredient. The recipe that we are going to show is making a curry only using green peas as the main ingredient. This is very easy to make and delicious as well. 

Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon of fennel seeds
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 big onion chopped
  • 1 cup of coconut Milk
  • 250g of frozen green peas

Step 1

Boil some water and add the frozen peas. let your peas simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until tender.

Step 2

Heat a pan with some oil and add all the dry ingredients to it. Then subsequently add the finely chopped garlic and onions and let it cook for 1-2 Mins.

Step 3

Add a small amount of  coconut milk and let it cook for another 1 minute in low flame. Add green peas and finally add the rest of the coconut milk.

Step 3

Cook for another 5 Minns in low flame until you get a thick gravy.

Serve hot with plain rice, biriyani and anything as you may see fit. Enjoy!
